Our partners from MES have fitted a Balkan lynx with a tracking device. The female, named Narcisa, was trapped by the biologists on 12 February before being examined and fitted with a GPS transmitter. Narcisa is only the second female Balkan lynx – a species which is threatened with extinction – ever to be fitted with such a device. She will now be able to provide lynx conservationists at MES with important data on her movement and behavioural patterns – and hopefully also give birth to some offspring soon.
