Women wanted: A global appeal to women to travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina on 28 April to occupy for an evening a bridge as part of the Blue Heart campaign.

© Ulrich Eichelmann/RiverwatchFor over 200 days the courageous women of the Bosnian village Kruščica occupy the bridge of their hometown to prevent the construction of a dam. Day and night they wait on the bridge to protect the rivers of their community from destruction with their peaceful protest. They have also been exposed to physical violence by the authorities.
What sounds cinematic has now made it onto the screen: in the documentary "Blue Heart" the story of women plays a leading role. On 28 April, their story will be brought to international attention at the world premiere of the documentary on the side of the obsolete Idbar Dam in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Many of the women will make the two-hour journey to the screening to see their determined struggle in the documentary.
Now a worldwide call has been launched to support the women remaining on the bridge. “We are inviting women from around the world to stand in solidarity with us in our struggle. This international support means so much and we hope that it will help us to win this battle against the hydropower projects […],” says Mika Tibold, protestor and president of the Kruščica Community Council.
